During my time looking for a graduate school, I work for a Title I school in the Dysart District as a school aide. I volunteer for an after-school program called Makerspace, which teaches kids about technology and creativity. This after-school program allowed me to teach middle-school students how to operate and maintain a sewing machine.

They learn how to hand- and machine-stitch, and have completed their first project! We've learned so much together, and with only one sewing machine for 6 students plus the instructor, we've also learned the value of patience!

The District of Dysart recognized my contributions to the school through an award called ‘Dysart Heroes’. This award is peer-nominated and presented in front of the school board!
